 Abstract

The current-source inverter (CSI) is a technology tendency in off-grid applications. The parallel-type compound controller based on repetitive control supports the steady behavior and the dynamic response of AC voltage by applying the advantages of sub-controllers. However, in a traditional off-grid CSI, a larger C filter is required for harmonics suppression. Moreover, in the compound controller, a repetitive controller is coupled with other controllers, leading to poor-quality voltage and instability. Thus, this paper proposes a decoupling proportional-resonant (PR)-repetitive control and an active damping strategy for off-grid CSIs with CLC filters. First, the CLC filter, a dual form of LCL filter in grid-tied converters, is proposed to suppress the switching harmonics and reduce the size. Then an active damping strategy by inductor-voltage feedback is proposed and designed in the z-domain to enhance the stability of the CSI. Moreover, the coupling mechanism in the traditional PR-repetitive control is discussed in the z-domain. The object of the repetitive controller includes the original system plant of the CSI and the PR controller in parallel. Thus, a decoupling PR-repetitive controller is proposed for high voltage quality. In the proposed controller, the compensator is reshaped to achieve the same compensation effect as a single repetitive controller for high-quality voltage in the steady state, and the PR controller is kept for a quick and smooth transient response. Moreover, the stability of the CSI system concerning the active damping coefficient and the decoupling control scheme is analyzed. Finally, the experimental results verify the feasibility and excellent performance of a CLC-tied CSI with the proposed control scheme.
